Class Description and Objective:
The purpose of these courses is to teach concepts in the subjects of reading, math, science, and social studies that students will be able to utilize in real life situations, prepare them for the skills necessary in their grade level, as well as creating productive members of society.
Attendance:
Attendance is mandatory. A parent note is required for an absence to be excused. Please make sure to send a doctor or parent’s note on the day your child returns to school. Write your child’s first and last name, and student’s ID number on the top of the note. Please remember, excessive absences will greatly affect your child’s performance and grades.
Assertive Discipline Plan:
In order to provide our students with the excellent educational climate they deserve, I have developed the following classroom discipline plan that will be in effect at all times. All students are expected to respect everyone in their class and to always maintain a positive attitude. Class Dojo will also be implemented this year. More information on Class Dojo will be forthcoming.
Rules:
1. Be respectful.
2. Follow directions.
3. Be on time and prepared.
4. Be responsible.
5. Keep hands and feet to one’s self
Rewards:
1. Class Dojo points awarded
2. Verbal praise
3. Stickers
Consequences:
1. Verbal warning.
2. Class Dojo points deducted
3. Teacher will contact parent about the misbehavior via Class Dojo.
4. Face to face conference will be scheduled
5. If the student’s behavior does not improve, the principal or assistant principal will be notified.
6. Other disciplinary measures may include, but are not limited to after school detention, indoor suspension, suspension from school or recommendations for expulsion.
Grading Scale:
100 – 90 = A 89 – 80 = B 79 – 70 = C 69 – 60 = D 59 – 0 =F
Grading Criteria:
Student’s grades will be based upon weekly tests, class work, projects, and homework. If a student is absent, it is his/her responsibility to find out what notes or assignments were missed and make them up. If the work is not completed by the amount of time given, it will count as an incomplete, which will be marked in the grade book as a “Z”. Topic test are worth two grades.
Home Learning:
Students will have work to be done at home as a reinforcement of what was covered in class. Homework is to be completed in a neat, clean, and organized manner, and turned in the following day unless otherwise told.
